Garry John

Garry John is a partner in the Insurance and Real Estates department, having joined the firm in 2010.

He specialises in Real Estates Law, insurance law, court litigation and arbitration proceedings, including before the International Court of Arbitration of The International Chamber of Commerce. He has more than 25 years' experience in providing legal support to national and international insurers, including Life and Non-Life insurance, in the litigation phase and in supporting claims handlers in the pre-litigation phase. He advises foreign insurers (on a freelance basis) on the "localisation" of their products within the Portuguese legal system, reviewing policies of all lines.

He advises on compliance, market conduct and distribution and has assisted the world's largest insurers in large D&O claims associated with the so-called "major lawsuits" against financial institutions and public companies. His practice includes assistance in various jurisdictions, namely the United Kingdom, USA, Spain, Angola, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.
